Your Recruitment Strategy

The need for a strong recruitment strategy has never been more pressing and urgent for companies in the UK. According to the REC (Recruitment and Employment Confederation):

“The longest period people used to stay in roles was around ten years but this has dropped in recent times to around four years. We’re also seeing more than one in ten people never staying with the same employer for more than a year. On top of this, average tenure has decreased with 2-5 years now the most common length of service. Replacing a single employee can take up to 28 weeks and cost over £25K in lost productivity”

28 weeks! And £25k seems staggering. But we’re regularly contacted at by Employers who’ve been struggling to hire for 6+months and are asking for our help.

Typically they’ll have tried their usual methods first, but with the amount of skilled workers in the job market decreasing every year – more and more companies are needing external assistance to hire.

The current advice from the REC is to get in touch with recruiters much earlier in the process. There’s good reason to get relationship with a trusted company, and then keep that recruiter in your “back-pocket” so to speak until they’re needed. Don’t wait 28 weeks, and then contact them. Engage them from the start.

Most agencies work on a contingency basis, so if you do not hire through them – you will be charged nothing. But if they can find you the right person and quickly – it could save your business tens of thousands of pounds in the long term.

We’ll be posting a blog soon about how to find the right recruiter for you.
